My name is Ashley Harris, and I’m the founder, administrator, and primary author of EatYumz.com. I’m a 41-year-old Alabama-based recipe creator with a focused interest in gut-friendly, practical home cooking for busy families.
EatYumz exists to help real people cook food that supports digestion, energy, and comfort — without complicated rules or unrealistic expectations. Every recipe on this site is developed, tested, and written by me in my own home kitchen.
When this site uses “I,” it refers to my personal experience and recipe development. When “we” is used, it refers to the EatYumz platform as a whole and the community of readers who cook, test, and give feedback on these recipes.
My Background in Cooking & Food
I am not a restaurant chef or a clinical nutritionist — and I’m very intentional about being clear on that. My expertise comes from years of hands-on home cooking, recipe testing, and lived experience with digestive discomfort, energy imbalance, and the daily realities of feeding a family.
For over a decade, I’ve been responsible for planning, cooking, and adapting meals multiple times a day — breakfasts, packed lunches, weeknight dinners, and comfort meals for gatherings. Over time, that repetition became education.
As my digestion changed, I began studying ingredient behavior, portion balance, cooking methods, and how certain foods felt after eating — not just how they tasted. I kept notes, adjusted recipes, simplified steps, and tested meals repeatedly until they worked consistently in real-life conditions.
That process — cook, observe, adjust, repeat — is the foundation of every recipe published on EatYumz.
A Specific Moment That Changed Everything
One evening, after making a traditional Southern comfort dinner I had cooked many times before, I remember sitting down and feeling immediately heavy, bloated, and drained. The food tasted familiar and comforting — but my body clearly disagreed.
That moment forced me to stop ignoring the connection between what I cooked and how I felt afterward. It wasn’t about eliminating comfort foods. It was about rethinking how they were prepared, balanced, and portioned.
That single realization changed my relationship with cooking. I started rebuilding meals from the inside out — keeping comfort, removing excess stress on digestion, and choosing preparation methods that felt better afterward.
Why EatYumz Was Created
EatYumz was created as a direct response to what I couldn’t find online:
recipes that were digestive-aware, simple, and realistic for busy moms.
Too many food sites felt extreme — overly restrictive, trend-driven, or disconnected from everyday life. I didn’t need perfect meals. I needed meals that worked most days.
EatYumz focuses on:
- Simple ingredient lists
- Clear, repeatable instructions
- Comfort-forward meals with gentler digestion in mind
- Food that fits into real schedules and real kitchens
This site is not about food rules. It’s about food awareness.
Recipe Development & Testing Process
Every recipe published on EatYumz goes through a hands-on process:
- Developed and cooked in my home kitchen
- Tested for flavor, texture, and digestion comfort
- Adjusted for simplicity and ingredient accessibility
- Written with clear steps for home cooks
If a recipe doesn’t feel realistic for a busy day, it doesn’t get published.
What Makes This Site Different
EatYumz is not a trend site, a copycat recipe blog, or a faceless content platform. It’s a personal food archive built from lived experience, consistency, and care.
What makes it different:
- Recipes are written by one clear, identifiable author
- Cooking advice is based on experience, not hype
- Gut health is approached gently, not clinically
- Comfort and nourishment coexist
This site is intentionally slow, thoughtful, and grounded in everyday life.
Collaboration & Team Transparency
EatYumz is independently run and authored by me. When outside tools, contributors, or collaborators are involved (such as photography assistance or technical support), they are clearly distinguished from recipe authorship.
All recipe opinions, food guidance, and written content reflect my personal experience and responsibility as the site’s creator.

A Little More About Me
Outside of recipe work, I value quiet routines, simple meals, and meaningful time at home. I believe food is emotional, cultural, and deeply personal — and that the best meals aren’t perfect, just intentional.
I continue learning, listening to my body, and refining how I cook every day. That ongoing learning process is part of what I share openly on EatYumz.
